The new National Digital Health Course Directory maps digital health courses across Australian universities.

The Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre has officially launched the Australian Digital Health Course Directory, a centralised platform mapping out digital health education opportunities across the nation’s universities.

The publicly accessible directory offers health professionals, students, executives and technology leaders a streamlined way to navigate the diverse landscape of digital health education across Australian universities.

By consolidating information from 37 universities, the platform supports the sector-wide push to develop a digitally capable and confident health workforce.

The initiative is a collaboration between the DHCRC, the Australian Council of Senior Academic Leaders in Digital Health and the Medical Research Future Fund NASCENT (National infrastructure for real-time clinical AI trials) project.

The alliance aims to strengthen digital health and artificial intelligence (AI) workforce capability and capacity across the health, information technology (IT), and computer science workforces.

Professor Clair Sullivan, inaugural chair of the council and director of the Queensland Digital Health Centre at the University of Queensland, said the directory was a critical step forward “in building a skilled and confident digital health workforce across Australia”.

“By providing clear pathways for education and professional development, we can better equip our healthcare system to harness innovative technologies and improve patient outcomes,” she said.

Digital Health CRC CEO Annette Schmiede said the release of the directory was a milestone in the journey towards a digitally empowered healthcare sector.

“People are the drivers of digital transformation, and the directory offers accessible, curated educational opportunities for a diverse range of learners to support their skills uplift and the digital enablement of healthcare,” she said.

The new platform allows healthcare professionals, students, executives and technology leaders to easily search and compare university courses, identify programs aligned with their career aspirations and explore topics across the digital health “domains of expertise” as per the Australian Digital Health Workforce Capability Framework.

The directory will be regularly updated to include new courses, professional development programs and micro-credentials.
