Lyrebird and Cubiko debut integration

3 minute read

The new tool will combine Cubiko’s care prompt system with Lyrebird’s system to suggest relevant consult templates.

Two popular GP software vendors have launched a new feature that will suggest consult templates and identify eligible MBS billing codes for patients.

Lyrebird Health is an AI-powered medical scribing service that generates tailored notes based off consult recordings.

Cubiko, meanwhile, is an analytics platform that identifies patient eligibility for certain items or consults.

Both are integrated with practice management software Best Practice, which is used by roughly 70% of GP clinics across the country.

At a base level, the new integration allows Lyrebird to read the messages that Cubiko puts into Best Practice.

Cubiko’s care prompt system identifies items that patients may be eligible to be billed for – like a chronic condition care plan under the new set of items, a yearly health assessment or a heart health check.

Previously, these prompts have only appeared when the GP opened the patient’s file in Best Practice.

Now, the prompt will also appear on the Lyrebird screen where GPs check the “I have obtained consent to transcribe” box.

The transcription software will also suggest relevant templates for notes.

Lyrebird does not access Cubiko data directly, and vice versa; both programs simply ‘speak’ to Best Practice, which remains the source of truth.

“[What it looks like is] that in the morning, the practice would open up Cubiko say, ‘I want to send these care prompts for patients due for a new GP [chronic condition management plan] today’, and then what happens is, in BP next to the appointment note and in the waiting room it’ll say ‘Cubiko suggests this patient might be eligible for [a chronic condition care plan],” Cubiko CEO Chris Smeed told Health Services Daily.

“That used to be where it ended.

“… Now what happens is that Lyrebird also picks that up – so if that practitioner does have Lyrebird, when they start the consultation, they’ll see [the prompt] there, so there’s one less place for them to look.

“And then during the consultation, [the prompt] will be there too as a suggested template to use.”

Lyrebird CEO Kai Van Lieshout called the collaboration “a major step forward in realising Lyrebird’s vision of making every consult count”.

“By surfacing the right information at the right time, based on trusted insights from Cubiko, we’re helping clinicians cut down on admin and focus on patients,” he said.

Practitioners must have live subscriptions to all three pieces of software – Cubiko, Best Practice and Lyrebird – in order to use the new integration.
