Will $60k make health facilities more LGBTQIA+ inclusive?

1 minute read

NSW Health Infrastructure will work alongside community members to develop recommendations for redesigning public health facilities.

Health Infrastructure NSW has received a $60,000 grant aimed at making public health settings more inclusive for LGBTQIA+ communities.

The project will see the department collaborate with community experts and representatives to identify infrastructural barriers potentially limiting LGBTQIA+ individuals’ access to healthcare services.

This collaboration will inform the publication of a “comprehensive recommendation report” to inform the design of more inclusive public health facilities, including policy implementation and the appointment of capital project teams.

“Inclusive design is fundamental to sustainable healthcare and contributes to creating welcoming environments for patients, staff, and visitors that promote healing and improved clinical services,” the announcement said

“Health Infrastructure is committed to listening our communities and to optimising facility access to ensure a positive healthcare experience for all.”
