Medow Health AI secures $3m as specialist doctors double down

The clinician-backed medtech start-up ramps up global expansion after 300% revenue growth and 100,000 monthly consults processed.

Australian medtech start-up Medow Health AI has secured a further $3 million in funding, drawing continued support from leading specialist doctors as it accelerates its global expansion.

The raise comes from the same cohort of clinicians who backed its first capital round, underscoring growing confidence in the company’s AI-native tools designed to automate medical reporting for specialist practices.

Among the returning investors and advisors are Chris O’Brien Lifehouse CEO and oncologist Professor Michael Boyer, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Michael Solomon and ophthalmic surgeon Dr Johnny Wu.

Their renewed support follows a year of rapid growth for the company, which has increased revenue by 300% and is now processing more than 100,000 specialist consults each month across private practices.

Medow Health AI also recently completed a successful pilot with a major Australian hospital.

Co-founder Joel Freiberg said the company’s point of difference lay in its ability to integrate advanced AI within existing clinical systems rather than focusing solely on model development.

“Where others only focus on AI, we use our engineering talent to integrate with key medical systems, recently launching a tailored hospital product for medtech-powered Chris O’Brien Lifehouse,” said Mr Freiberg.

“The capital raise will enable us to launch new AI products to specialist medical communities across the country, increase integrations into key healthcare systems and see us through to profitability within 12 months.

“We didn’t have to look far for investors for both the initial and second round capital raise with our early medical specialist customers already using the technology wanting to be involved.”

Mr Freiberg said the latest investment will enable Medow Health AI to launch new products to more specialist communities across Australia, expand integrations with major healthcare systems and guide the company toward profitability within a year.

“This year we have expanded to New Zealand and now southeast Asia with strong pick up in both regions following our first capital raise that closed at $2 million,” he said.

“Leading in AI quality and interoperability has been a key priority since day one and led to our amazing partnership with Magentus almost three years ago.”

The company’s long-standing partnership with Magentus has been central to its focus on quality and interoperability. Integrations with Meditech and Genie are already in place, with further connections planned.

Mr Freiberg said the company’s mission was shaped by its close ties with specialist clinicians and its commitment to supporting their operational efficiency while enhancing patient outcomes.

Medow Health AI was founded by Mr Freiberg and his brother Josh, inspired by firsthand experiences of inefficiencies in specialist care.

Growing up, they watched their father, a respiratory physician, spend countless hours on administrative tasks, and Joel’s own experience living with Crohn’s disease reinforced the need for more efficient specialist workflows.

Their company now aims to deliver AI-powered solutions “by specialists, for specialists” to help modernise healthcare delivery.

“Central to our vision is the creation of a system that genuinely resonates with the specialists who use it,” said Mr Freiberg.
