Referrals, letters and transfer-of-care summaries are about to get easier, say the two companies.
Data interoperability provider Alcidion Group has partnered with Consultmed to integrate Consulmed’s advanced e-referral and workflow solution directly into Alcidion’s Miya Precision platform.
The move, say the two companies, will give healthcare organisations the ability to seamlessly manage referrals, letters and transfer-of-care summaries.
Miya Precision has been deployed to a large number of health systems in Victoria – including Alfred Health – NSW, South Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand and the Northern Territory, including NT Health.
Users of Miya Precision choosing to add the Consultmed functionally to their subscription will be able to access Consultmed’s platform directly in Miya Precision.
Kate Quirke, managing director and CEO of Alcidion said the move addressed a critical challenge in healthcare delivery.
“By integrating Consultmed’s proven e-referral capability with our Miya Precision platform, we’re reducing system fragmentation and providing clinicians with seamless tools to address gaps in the transition of care,” she said.
“At Alcidion we are serious about interoperability and being part of an ecosystem that enables innovation to flourish while providing clinicians with a better digital health experience.”
The integration will allow healthcare providers to:
- improve information sharing between hospitals and primary care providers;
- reduce administrative burden through automated referral workflows;
- improve care coordination and continuity across healthcare settings;
- access Consultmed’s digital referral, clinical Advice & Guidance and triage technology directly from Miya Precision.
A GP or other healthcare provider uses Consultmed to send and receive referrals, which land in Miya Precision, which triages the referral, supports patient flow and operational decision-making. Then, when the episode of care is complete, Miya Precision sends letters and/or discharge summaries to GPs or other healthcare providers, via Consultmed.

“I’ve always admired Alcidion’s success as a local Australian digital health company delivering impactful solutions to real-world challenges in patient flow and operational efficiency.
“It’s a pleasure to now be working together, connecting Consultmed’s digital referral and Advice & Guidance platform with Miya Precision to streamline patient flow management, enabling proactive referral management and discharge planning.
“Together, we’re building an end-to-end solution that improves communication from community to hospital and back again, enhancing the experience for both providers and patients.”
At the pointy end of healthcare – patients – the partnership is aimed at delivering:
- Enhanced patient safety by ensuring critical information moves with the patient across care settings, reducing the risk of readmissions;
- Improved efficiency by reducing administrative overhead through automated digital workflows;
- Reduced waiting times by facilitating faster, more appropriate referrals with complete information.
Alcidion expects a full-year profit turnaround after posting a third-quarter positive operating cash flow of $2.5 million, according to Stockhead.
That’s a turnaround from its December quarter deficit of $260,000 and $1.4 million of outflows a year previously.
