Wild Health Summit: Improving health equity and access through telehealth

1 minute read

In this video from the Wild Health Sydney Summit, Dr Suzanne Miller, director of strategy, quality, and technology and clinical deputy director of the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department, talks about funding innovation acceleration.

“Virtual care works, it is safe, and we have over 93% of our patients say they love it.”

That’s the verdict of Dr Suzi Miller, director of strategy, quality and technology, and clinical deputy director of the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department, speaking at the recent Wild Health Sydney Summit.

“I would question anyone in this room to find a healthcare system that has 93% positive feedback. It’s here, it works.”

For Dr Miller the next step in digital healthcare is a “front door”, perhaps at the state level, perhaps at the national level.

“So imagine this. You’re sick. You’re not sick enough for triple-0, but you don’t know what to do. So you call triple-3. And triple-3 is a triage AI-empowered nurse who answers the phone and answers your questions – puts it into a triage system that spits out where you should go,” she said.

“That same triple-3 phone number could also be a digital front door.”

This 14-minute video is the complete conversation with Dr Miller.
